These terms are the agreement between you and Vishal Kundar, trading as Myrmidon Studio (a sole proprietorship registered in India), who operates Mythwrites at mythwrites.com and can be reached at support@mythwrites.com. In these terms “Mythwrites”, “we” and “us” mean that operator, and “you” means the person using the service. By creating an account or using Mythwrites you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
Your writing is yours
You own every word, world, character and map you create in Mythwrites. We claim no ownership of it, no right to publish it, no right to sell it, and no right to train anything on it. The only permission you give us is the narrow technical permission we need to store your work and show it back to you. That is set out in full under “Your content” below, and it is the section to read if you read only one.
Mythwrites gives you tools to write a manuscript and organise the world around it: chapters, world entries, characters, timelines, lineages, CYOA branches, export to DOCX, EPUB, PDF, Markdown, plain text, HTML and JSON, and an optional AI assistant. Depending on how the app is configured it runs either in browser demo mode, where everything stays in your own browser and never reaches our servers, or in cloud mode, where it syncs to our servers. This is early access software. Features can change, and we may add, alter or withdraw them.
You must be at least 18 years old to use Mythwrites. One account is for one person. Keep your password, or the Google account you sign in with, to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has access to it. Give us an email address you actually read, because it is how we reach you about billing, security and changes to these terms.
Everything you write, upload or create in Mythwrites is your content, and you keep every intellectual property right in it. Nothing in these terms transfers copyright, moral rights, or any other right in your work to us. If you already sold or optioned rights in a manuscript to a publisher or anyone else, storing a draft here changes none of that.
To run the service we need a licence, and it is deliberately narrow. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence, for as long as your content is on our systems, to host, store, copy, back up, transmit, reformat and display your content, and to do the same through the infrastructure providers named in our Privacy Policy, for one purpose only: operating Mythwrites for you and for the collaborators you have invited. The licence is worldwide only because servers and content delivery are, and it ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies sitting in routine backups until those roll off.
To be explicit about what we will not do, because for a writing tool that promise is the product. We do not publish, distribute, sell or share your content with anyone other than the collaborators you invite and the processors listed in our Privacy Policy, and we grant nobody else a licence to it. We do not use it to train, fine-tune or evaluate any AI model, and we do not supply it to anyone else to do so. We do not read your manuscripts for product research, marketing, or to build features. Our staff, which today means one person, does not open your projects except where you ask for support that requires it and give permission, or where the law compels us.
You are responsible for having the right to store what you store. You confirm that your content does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy, and is not unlawful.
Do not use Mythwrites to store or share material that is unlawful in India, that infringes another person’s rights, or that sexualises children. Do not attempt to break into other users’ projects, probe or overload our systems, resell access to your account, or scrape the service. Fiction is fiction: dark themes in a novel are not the target of this section.
On plans that include collaboration you can invite others to a project by email. Only invite people who expect to hear from you. The project owner controls access and can remove a collaborator at any time. If you are a collaborator rather than the owner, remember that the owner controls that project and can delete it, along with your contributions to it, without notice to you. Sort out authorship and rights between yourselves; Mythwrites does not arbitrate co-writing disputes.
The AI assistant runs one of two ways. Mythic includes fifteen runs a day on our own key, which we pay for and which go through our server to the model provider we have chosen. That allowance is per account per day, it does not roll over, and we may change the model behind it or the number of runs. The AI page always names the model and the number in force, so it is the place to check. Nothing about it is a guarantee of a particular model or a particular quality of answer.
The other way is your own key. Right now that means a key for OpenAI or Anthropic, and your browser calls that provider directly. The AI settings page also has a field for a local or self-hosted endpoint, but our current browser security policy only lets this browser call OpenAI, Anthropic and our own processors directly, so a custom endpoint there does not work in production; use OpenAI, Anthropic or Included AI until that changes. Mythwrites does not apply the fifteen-runs-a-day Included-AI quota to this path; your provider’s own rate limits, usage limits and charges apply instead. On that path we do not resell AI capacity, we are not a party to your relationship with the provider, and your use of it is governed by that provider’s own terms and pricing. You pay them, not us, for the tokens you consume.
Either way, your prompt and the lore context around it leave this workspace: on the included path through our server to the provider we use, and on your own key straight from your device to the provider you chose. Our Privacy Policy lists precisely what is in that context, which is more than the sentence you typed, and which path sends it where. Read it before you run anything. If your work is confidential or under embargo, review the displayed scope and provider before each run. The classic assistant checks can fall back to a local heuristic when a bring-your-own-key provider has no key; continuity review, contextual chat, and Smart Import lore extraction require a configured provider and otherwise send nothing.
As between you and us, output the assistant returns is yours to use, on the same footing as the rest of your content. AI output can be wrong, derivative, or unintentionally close to someone else’s work, and the legal status of machine-generated text is unsettled in India and elsewhere. Check anything you intend to publish. We give no warranty that AI output is accurate, original or fit for publication, and we are not responsible for what you do with it.
Draft is free forever for one editable project, with limits on manuscript words and world entries. Scribe and Mythic let you have unlimited projects and use the manuscript, world, character, timeline, lineage and export tools without Draft's core limits; Mythic also adds the AI assistant, CYOA export and collaboration.
Founding and standard price. We launched with a founding-member offer: Scribe at ₹400 ($4.99) a month and Mythic at ₹900 ($9.99) a month, open to the first 500 qualifying members or for 90 days from its activation, whichever happens first. Once the offer closes to new subscribers, the standard price for a new subscriber is ₹799 ($9.99) for Scribe and ₹1,599 ($19.99) for Mythic. A founding member keeps their founding price for as long as their paid membership stays continuously subscribed; a genuine completed lapse forfeits it, while cancelling and resubscribing before that point does not. The exact lock and forfeiture rule, and which price is on offer right now, are set out in full on Pricing, which is the page to check before you buy; either way, the figure and currency the Paddle checkout actually shows you when you subscribe is the one that binds, not a figure on this page.
Who you are buying from. Paddle is our merchant of record. That has a specific meaning and it is worth spelling out: when you buy Scribe or Mythic, the purchase contract is between you and Paddle, not between you and us. Paddle takes the payment, holds your payment method, issues the receipt, is responsible for the tax on the sale, and handles refunds and chargebacks. We sell the subscription to Paddle and Paddle sells it on to you. Your purchase is therefore also covered by Paddle’s own buyer terms, which you accept at their checkout. Everything else here, the service itself and what happens to your writing, is between you and us.
Currency, and what you actually pay. The prices above are quoted in Indian rupees for readers in India and in US dollars elsewhere, and Paddle charges in your local currency where it can. The amount and currency shown on the Paddle checkout, including any tax it has to add, is what you pay, and that figure is the one that binds, not a figure on this page. If your bank converts from another currency it sets the rate and may add its own fee, which neither we nor Paddle control.
On your statement. The charge comes from Paddle rather than from us, so on a card or bank statement it usually appears as a Paddle line with our name beside it, not as Mythwrites on its own. That line may read Paddle's account name for us, Myrmidon Studios, rather than Mythwrites or Vishal Kundar: it is the same business trading under the name Myrmidon Studio above, not a different company. Tax. As merchant of record Paddle works out, collects and remits any sales tax, VAT or GST due on your purchase, and Paddle’s receipt is your tax document for it. If you are buying for a business and have a tax registration number, enter it at the Paddle checkout so it appears on that receipt. The receipt is Paddle’s document, so corrections to it go to Paddle.
Where you can buy. There is no India-only restriction on checkout. Paddle sells worldwide and settles in local currency, so wherever you are, if Paddle can transact in your country you can subscribe on the same terms. The exception is the small number of countries Paddle is not permitted to serve, where the checkout will say so rather than taking your money.
Billing cycle. Paid plans are monthly and renew automatically on the same day each month until you cancel. Paddle stores the payment method and takes each renewal; we never see or hold your card, UPI or bank details. Paddle emails you a receipt for every charge, so you always have a record from the party that took the money.
Trial. Scribe and Mythic include a 14-day free trial. The trial sits on the Paddle price itself, so Paddle runs the clock: you give a payment method at the start, nothing is charged during the trial, and the first monthly charge falls due on the day it ends. Cancel before then and you are not charged.
Right now. Checkout is live. Choosing a paid plan opens the Paddle checkout, and your plan changes only once Paddle tells us the payment went through. Nothing inside the app can charge you on its own.
You can cancel at any time, for any reason, without giving one. Use the Cancel subscription button on your Profile page: we ask Paddle to stop the subscription at the end of the period you have already paid for, and your account only shows as canceled once Paddle has agreed. You can also email support@mythwrites.com from the address on your account, in which case we will cancel within 2 working days and honour the date you wrote to us, not the date we got round to it. Because Paddle is the seller, you can raise a cancellation with Paddle directly as well.
Canceling stops future charges. Your paid features stay available until the end of the period you have already paid for, and the account drops to Draft once that date passes. Canceling does not delete your account or your work; deleting your account is a separate action, described in the Privacy Policy.
One thing that works differently, so it is not a surprise. If a renewal payment fails, paid features stop straight away rather than running to the end of the month, because that month was not paid for. Your work stays exactly where it is. Settle the payment with Paddle and the plan comes back on its own.
If you are unhappy in the first 7 days after your first charge on a plan, email support@mythwrites.com and we will refund that charge in full. No conditions about how much you used it. After those 7 days, monthly charges are not refundable in part, so a cancellation mid-month stops the next charge rather than refunding the current one. We will always refund a charge that was taken in error, or one taken after you asked us to cancel.
Because Paddle is the merchant of record, Paddle makes the refund, not us: we approve your request and ask Paddle to return the money to the method you paid with. We will do our part within 3 working days of your email. How long it then takes to reach your account is between Paddle and your bank, so we do not promise a date for it. You can also ask Paddle for a refund directly under its buyer terms. None of this cuts down any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, other Indian consumer law, or any mandatory consumer-protection law that applies to you where you live, and Paddle's own Buyer Terms and refund policy may give you additional rights beyond this section. Wherever a mandatory law or Paddle's own terms give you a longer or better outcome than this section, that outcome controls.
You can send us bug reports and ideas from the Feedback page. If a report leads to a fix, or an idea we ship, we may add free time on a paid plan to your account as a thank you. Whether a report qualifies is our decision and we will not always say yes: reports of something already known, things that turn out to work as intended, and anything sent from an account we cannot identify do not qualify. It is a gift, not a payment or a bounty, and sending feedback is never a purchase.
Complimentary access is separate from any subscription you buy. It starts when we grant it, ends on the date we tell you, does not renew, and cannot be exchanged for money or transferred to anyone else. If you also pay for a plan, complimentary access sits on top and changes nothing about your billing. We may end complimentary access early if an account is using the Feedback page abusively, for instance by submitting in bulk or by inventing reports, and we will say so if we do.
By sending us an idea you let us build it, without owing you payment or credit for it. This does not affect anything you write in Mythwrites, which stays yours under “Your content” above.
We back up our database, but no backup regime is perfect and this is a small independent product. Your manuscript is probably worth more to you than anything else in this agreement, so export it regularly from the Export page and keep a copy somewhere we do not control. We are not liable for lost or corrupted content, and that is the honest position rather than a comfortable one.
You may stop using Mythwrites at any time and delete your account from the Profile page. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that we are legally required to act on, or that is attacking the service. Unless the law prevents it or the abuse is severe, we will tell you why, give you a chance to respond, and give you a reasonable opportunity to export your work first. If we close your account without cause we will ask Paddle to refund the unused part of the period you paid for.
Mythwrites is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that it will suit any particular purpose, and we offer no uptime guarantee at this stage. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties. Nothing here excludes a condition or warranty that Indian law, or any other mandatory law applicable to you, does not permit us to exclude.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or connected with Mythwrites, in any twelve month period, is limited to the amount paid for your Mythwrites subscription in the twelve months before the claim, whether you paid it to us or to Paddle, or INR 1,000 if nothing has been paid. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost publishing opportunities, or loss of data, except where the law does not allow that exclusion.
This limit does not apply to liability for fraud, for wilful misconduct, for death or personal injury, or to any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law or under any other mandatory law applicable to you, including rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or under mandatory consumer-protection law that applies to you where you live.
You are responsible for your own content, so if a third party brings a claim against us because of something you stored or published through Mythwrites, you will cover our reasonable costs in dealing with it, to the extent the claim arises from your breach of these terms.
We may change these terms. If a change materially affects you we will email the address on your account and show a notice in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using Mythwrites after that, you accept the new terms; if you do not want them, cancel, export your work, and delete your account, and we will arrange a refund through Paddle of the unused part of any period you have paid for. Price increases never apply to a period you have already paid for.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and that stays true no matter which country you use Mythwrites from. Please write to support@mythwrites.com first, because almost everything is settled that way. If it is not, the courts at Bangalore, Karnataka are the ordinary forum for a dispute. If you are a consumer, this clause does not take away any right you have under Indian consumer law to bring a complaint before the consumer commission where you live, work or where the cause of action arose, and it does not take away any mandatory consumer-protection or jurisdiction right you have under law applicable to you in your own country, where that law requires it: if mandatory law entitles you to bring a claim before a local consumer body or court, this clause does not stop you. This paragraph is about consumer protections; it is not a promise that a business customer can choose a different governing law or forum. A dispute about a payment itself, rather than about the service, may also be taken to Paddle under its buyer terms, because Paddle is the party that charged you.
If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest keeps working. Our not enforcing something once does not mean we have given up the right to enforce it later. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us.
